WHAT SCHLEICHER FOREST LOOKS LIKE

Our trees are still there!

Maybe you can remember – our January donation in 2022 went to the forest conservation project by Wohlleben’s Forest Academy. The idea was to lease a plot of beech forest for 50 years, for the owner in return to refrain from removing any wood from the forest so its tree population can regenerate naturally.

On 8 July we finally were able to take part in a tour through the forest and see the area, which is located in Wershofen in the Eifel region. In primeval forest terms, our forest is still relatively young – as most of its beech trees are not even 200 years old yet. But, as the saying goes: The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.

Be that as it may, the trees should now be able to develop unhindered for the next 50 years. The agreement to not remove wood is entered into the land registry and still remains intact even in the case of a sale.

We saw it with our own eyes and our verdict is: The forest conservation project is a successful contribution to climate protection, and we are planning to help Schleicher Forest grow with our next January donation in 2023. It turns out that sometimes, not doing anything is the best option.

May we introduce: Schleicher Forest.
